“We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.”
For almost a decade, I have written weekly for Charity Matters. Sharing the stories of the remarkable humans, who make our world better, is truly my passion and brings me such joy. Each of you has become a part of this growing community of people who crave goodness and positivity. When I meet you and discover the causes that you are supporting because of one of our stories or your volunteer efforts because of something you read here, it is the ultimate gift. Honestly, nothing brings me more joy than inspiring others to serve.
Sometimes, the challenge in being both a messenger of service and in running a nonprofit full-time is getting the stories out week after week. So this next week I am taking a little pause and vacation, something Charity Matters rarely does. A moment to catch my breath, refill the tank and to think about some next steps for this platform and community that I love.
So, if we miss a week know that we will be back ready to inspire you after a little spring break, sunshine, sea and sand. Thank you for continuing to spread the word about our work and making the world a better place.
YOUR REFERRAL IS THE GREATEST COMPLIMENT, IF YOU ARE SO MOVED OR INSPIRED, WE WOULD LOVE YOU TO SHARE AND INSPIRE ANOTHER.
When I was in high school I loved The Go-Gos. This week their song, “Vacation” is seriously stuck in my head and the reason being is that it is time for our family to get out of dodge for some much-needed rest and relaxation. We are not headed too far this trip but anyplace that gets you out of your routine, is more than far enough for me.
An open space with fresh air, little technology, my children and spouse without the demands of work. That is vacation. We all need them. Vacations don’t have to be to a glamorous destination or include an umbrella drink. My sons joke that we can turn any trip into a road trip whether we began in a car or fly to a foreign country….this time they just might be right.
When you look at back at your life and the memories that were created, my guess is that many of the good ones come from the trips that you took. Since we have one leaving the nest and time continues to zip by faster and faster, it becomes more important to stop, leave and just be with those you love.
When I return, I will be rested, renewed and ready to blog about amazing people who inspire me and gear up for the Youth Summer Leadership Program I run.
It is going to be an amazing summer…..once I start that vacation.
