“All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.”
Labor Day Weekend
“A hundred times every day I remind myself that my inner and outer life depend on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give in the same measure as I have received and am still receiving.”
Albert Einstein
I must exert myself in order to give the same measure I have received……
I love these words. There are many who have gone before us to make this great life and great country a reality. This holiday weekend remember those who have gone before us and the hard work that has brought us to this point. I will continue to exert myself in order to give in the same measure I have received and I’m sure you will too.
Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Charity Matters Quotes
“Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one. “
Malcolm S. Forbes
Well, its official. Summer is over and its time to get back to the business of learning. Back to school just sounds depressing but learning, that is fun! Living is learning and the more we live, the more we give.

Charity Matters Quotes
“There is something deep within us that sobs at endings. Why, God, does everything have to end? Why does all nature grow old? Why do spring and summer have to go?”
Joe Wheeler
Well its officially over for me. Summer ends this weekend and the boys are back in school on monday. Where it went….. I’m not really sure. What I do know is that those few precious weeks without structure, homework or stress were perfection.
I think I’m going to try a big dose of denial until after Labor Day and in the meantime enjoy my last beautiful summer weekend. Hope you enjoy yours too!

Charity Matters Quotes
“Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability.”
Sam Keen
I’m not sure what is worse, the end of summer or the countdown until the end. Either way, this glorious season is short and we have just begun to relax. So, take a moment to take care of yourself. You give so much to so many. Your time to give will be here before you know it.
So enjoy the respectability that comes with the laziness of summer because it won’t last long.
Happy Friday!

Charity Matters Quotes
“Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”
Henry James
Summer is quickly coming to an end and it is time to squeeze out every ounce of joy from this magical season.
Enjoy!

Charity Matters Quotes
“Find what brings you joy and go there.”
Jan Phillips
With the chaos of remodeling it was time to go in search of a little joy, so I have been hiding out in my happy place….the lake. I hope this weekend you find whatever that place is for you and if you don’t, than I hope you go in search of what that is and enjoy!
Happy Friday!

Family
“Perhaps the greatest social service that can be rendered by anybody to this country and to mankind is to bring up a family.”
G.B. Shaw
I just returned from a fun weekend at our families reunion. My grandmother was an only child who always wanted a big family, well this weekend the 60 of us would have made her proud. My family’s motto is “Family first” and after seeing all of the amazing people that I call family, I realize now more than ever, just how important that is.

Charity Matters Quotes
“Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.”
Jane Howard
Today I am heading north for my family reunion. I come from a large clan of aunts, uncles and cousins and this weekend the sixty of us will gather, reminisce and reconnect. I am blessed to hail from such a remarkable group of people who have shown me the way, by example, in helping so many.
I hope your weekend is full of family and fun and love.

Slice of summer
“Summer is the time when one sheds one’s tensions with one’s clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all’s right with the world. “
Ada Louise Huxtable
All is right in the world today because I am enjoying my first day off this summer. I hope you can find some time to steal away to rest, relax and renew. You do so much for so many, you deserve it!
Happy Summer!

Charity Matters Quotes
“When you live for a strong purpose, then hard work isn’t an option. It’s a necessity.”
Steve Pavlina
Hard work is definitely my theme for the week. Celebrating the two years of work and dedication of Charity Matters anniversary, along with the hard work we have going on at the house. The beauty of summer is that when the hard work comes to an end of fridays…you can head to the beach! That is where you will find me this weekend. Celebrating my hard work and relaxing.
I hope you find some relaxation as well.
Happy Friday!

Charity Matters Quotes
“Love begins by taking care of the closest ones – the ones at home.”
Mother Teresa
In keeping with this weeks theme that “Charity starts at home,” I thought I would share a photo of our family a few years back, when we first moved into our house. This was the last time that we did serious home improvement. I hope this weekend finds you enjoying summer, wherever you maybe, I’ll be staying close to home.
Happy Friday Everyone!

The 5th of July
“I love my freedom. I love my America.”
Jessi Lane Adams
I hope your 4th of July was filled with fun, family and fireworks. In honor of our great country, I thought I would take an extra day to enjoy a slice of summer. Hope you find a little time to do the same!
Happy Friday everyone!

Celebrating the 4th
“You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. “
Erma Bombeck
The 4th of July is one of my favorite days of the year. Today we will be packing up the car and heading to the lake for fireworks, family , friends and fun. So forgive the lack of a larger post this week but I am taking some much needed R & R for the next few days and I hope you get to do the same.
Happy 4th of July and God Bless America!
